Joint Camp

Greenville and Washington County Rehabilitation for Total Joint Replacement Patients

Joint Camp is a special program for individuals who are taking positive steps toward wellness with total joint replacement surgery. Joint Camp at The Medical Center is unique because it focuses on education, encouragement, and teamwork to give you the information and the support you need to maximize your joint replacement experience.

From your first visit to the orthopedic surgeon, throughout your hospital stay, until the time you leave, education will be a big part of your care. Joint Camp continues the education process through newsletters, videos, small group classes, and more.

A Comprehensive, Team-Approach to Recovery

Joint Camp physicians, nurses, therapists, and fellow patients encourage and support you during your hospital stay and recuperation because we believe that getting well is as mentally challenging as it is physically challenging. Patients work as a team during physical therapy sessions and there are group activities for patients and family members.

What to Expect at Joint Camp:

  • Pre-admission Class: Your first experience at Joint Camp will be attending a pre-admission class approximately one week before your surgery. You will meet other individuals that will be going through surgery just like you
  • Day of Surgery: On the day of your surgery you will need to be in the main lobby of The Medical Center approximately two hours before surgery. A guest relations representative will direct you from there
  • Group Activities & Family Participation: Group interaction is a big part of Joint Camp. We will make sure you have plenty of time to socialize with your fellow patients. Having the support of a friend, loved one, or family member can be invaluable when recovering from major surgery. While you are at Joint Camp, we encourage you to invite a guest to designated group activities
  • When You Leave: On the day of your departure from Joint Camp, we will provide you with plenty of instructions, materials, and discharge information so that your recovery can continue on the right track after you leave

Any patient who is scheduled for joint replacement surgery at The Medical Center may participate in Joint Camp. For more information about Joint Camp, call (662) 725-2024
