Geriatric Psychiatric Care in Washington County

At The Medical Center we offer professional and compassionate care to those in need of psychiatric services. Geriatric Psychiatry is a specialized unit that focuses on the older population. The unit is designed to evaluate and treat psychiatric patients with and without concurrent medical issues.

Program Goals

The goal of the Geriatric Psychiatry Unit is to return an individual to an optimal level of functioning in a timely manner with a plan of continued care after discharge.

Scope of Treatment

The Geriatric Psychiatry Program at The Medical Center admits patients 24 hours a day. The program provides short term, individualized treatment by a team of professionals. After a complete evaluation, a treatment plan will be developed and may include the following components.

Treatment plan components include:

  • Medical evaluation and managementd
  • Psychological and neuropsychological testing
  • Occupational and physical therapy
  • Individual, family and group therapy
  • Development of individualized behavior treatment plans
  • Aftercare planning

All services are housed on the West Campus of The Medical Center.
